Get Off the Fence!

One of my favorite quotes:: “It doesn't matter which side of the fence you get off on. What matters most is getting off. You cannot make progress without making decisions.”  You'll never find a Ruppert on the fence, that's why things happen quickly on our new model home.

Wide plank woods in Silver Sage.

Plantation Shutter wall in master bedroom will create a seating area behind the bed.

Wall of built-ins in the family room with glass shelving.

All 3 pendants are up, subway tile to the ceiling, just waiting for the super cool range.

That awesome sunroom again.

Beam Me Up

Thought I'd share the fun progress made today on the beamed ceiling in sunroom of our new model home / office.  The room is small at just 12'x15'.  I love intimate spaces for quiet time alone, a quick afternoon nap or for small gatherings.  I find large spaces don't have the positive energy I value in an environment.  Therefore I asked Greg to design a sunroom that would be personal, cozy and super interesting at the same time.  I think:: Mission Accomplished.  The light blue ceiling doesn't hurt either.

The House in Something's Gotta Give

I was just interviewed for an article in Builder Magazine. The person asked me where we  find the inspiration for the memory points in our homes.  Which got me one ever does anything in a home or interior design for the first time.....everything is inspired from something or someone else. So where do the clever things in our homes come from?  After a moment of thought and honesty, my answer was:: pop culture.  I pay attention to great homes in movies and on TV, even trash TV.

Our trim details came from the homes in Home Alone and Desperate Housewives.  Our Internet nooks came from the home in Ozzy Osbourne's realty show. Our white on white kitchens with wood floors came from the kitchens in Something's Gotta Give and the Barefoot Contessa.  And so on.

The home from Something's Gotta Give......

If you haven't seen Something's Gotta Give, rent it just to see the house.....its perfection and you wont be the first to google it, nor the last.  Here are some pics of that house, which was just a sound stage.
